DHHS is inviting members of North Carolina’s mental health workforce who support people with serious mental illness to share their perspectives on involuntary outpatient commitment, known in North Carolina as assisted outpatient treatment (AOT). AOT involves court-ordered participation in community-based mental health treatment. It raises important questions about access to care, individual rights, treatment needs, and the role of involuntary intervention. Understanding the experiences and perspectives of the professionals who work with people with serious mental illness is an important part of examining this issue.
The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and participation is entirely voluntary.
