About Alliance Health
Alliance Health is a managed health care company. That means we manage the costs, use and quality of your health care.
We operate one of North Carolina's Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (BH/IDD) Tailored Plans, and also serve NC Medicaid Direct beneficiaries in our region.
What is a Tailored Plan?
Tailored Plans manage many kinds of care a person needs to be healthy. They are designed for:
People with serious mental illnesses and substance use disorders
People with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DDs)
People who are part of the Innovations and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver
Non-Medicaid behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and TBI services for uninsured and underinsured North Carolinians/li>
What kinds of care are available with the Alliance Health Tailored Plan?
Behavioral healthcare (mental health and substance use disorders)
Intellectual/developmental disabilities
Traumatic brain injury
Physical healthcare (For Medicaid members)
Pharmacy services (For Medicaid members)
Other needs that affect a person’s well-being, like safe housing and enough food.
How is the Alliance Health Tailored Plans different from North Carolina’s Standard Plans?
Tailored Plans provide an array of specialized and intensive services and supports for these groups that may not be offered by North Carolina’s Standard Health Plans. These may include:
Enhanced mental health services including intensive substance use disorder outpatient services
Home and community-based waivers, like the TBI and Innovations waivers
Specialized residential treatment programs for children
Intermediate Care Facilities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Specialized services for the uninsured and underinsured with mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder support needs.
Who provides these services?
The services and supports available through the Alliance Tailored Plan are offered by a large and diverse network of physical and behavioral healthcare providers located in communities across the counties we serve. Each one has earned a reputation of successfully serving people who have Medicaid or are uninsured.
Alliance works to be sure members have access to many kinds of effective and innovative care. If a member needs a provider of specialty care not currently available in-network, Alliance will consider out-of-network options that are reasonably accessible to allow members to attend appointments.
What value-added services does the Alliance Health Tailored Plan offer for members insured by Medicaid?
Ensuring specialized support for a variety of physical health conditions is essential to a person living their most productive and confident life. Alliance will offer the following supports to eligible Medicaid members in order to help them reach their disease management goals and maintain a healthy environment based on their assessed healthcare needs:
Specialized health camps for youth, i.e. asthma, diabetes, YMCA for weight management and social interaction
GED/literacy classes
Safelink smartphone program
Quitline tobacco cessation assistance
Carpet cleaning (once annually not to exceed $100.00)
