Alliance Health is excited to announce 11 community capacity grant awards totaling nearly $200,000. Alliance solicited community capacity grant applications from community-based organizations operating food and nutrition programs across Cumberland, Durham, Johnston, Mecklenburg, Orange, and Wake counties. The goal of these one-time grants is to help increase capacity and infrastructure for community food security throughout the Alliance Health region. Grants have been awarded to the following organizations:
Ada Jenkins Families and Career Development Center, Inc. (Mecklenburg County)
Alliance Medical Ministry (Wake County)
Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen, Inc. (Mecklenburg County)
Inter-Faith Council for Social Service (Orange County)
Inter-Faith Food Shuttle (Durham, Johnston, Orange, and Wake Counties)
Meals on Wheels Orange County, NC (Orange County)
Pineville Neighbors Place (Mecklenburg County)
Porch Chapel Hill-Carrboro (Orange County)
PORCH-Durham (Durham County)
Table Ministries, Inc. (Orange County)
Women’s Center of Wake County (Wake County)
Organizations may use the funds to bolster capacity and infrastructure to serve people referred to their respective food programs. The grant funds may be used for food supplies, food distribution, food storage, food education such as cooking and gardening classes, program staffing, and/or other administrative costs. These organizations will receive referrals through the NCCARE360 platform as Alliance Health works to increase the capacity of available community-based organizations participating on the platform to connect people to community resources to address unmet social needs and to track closed-loop referrals.
Alliance Health understands the vital role these organizations play, and we are honored to partner with them to help improve the health and well-being of people in our communities with complex needs. Alliance Health is committed to helping our communities experience equitable and integrated care, so they live healthy, satisfying lives.
