As part of our ongoing efforts to expand services for youth with complex needs, Alliance has increased our regional crisis bed capacity by opening a Crisis Stabilization and Transitional Program (CSTP) in Johnston County, operated by Savin’ Grace LLC. The program includes six CSTP beds in a licensed group home setting that are available for the Alliance catchment area.
Alliance has prioritized opening new CSTP capacity to reduce unnecessary emergency department admissions and inappropriate placements for youth. Since 2021, we have brought 31 of these new transitional beds online with plans to open 71 total transitional beds across our six-county service area.
CSTPs are primarily intended to serve the needs of youth who are in the custody of DSS and are experiencing behavioral health issues that have resulted in the unplanned loss of a placement within the foster care or behavioral health systems but do not require an inpatient level of care. CSTPs provide short-term residential care, stabilization and assessment services to youth experiencing crisis and in need of immediate placement.
The Savin’ Grace home in Selma will be available to receive referrals during standard business hours (8 am to 5 pm) and receive admissions from 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Friday. The provider will work closely with Alliance and referring social service departments to ensure youth receive needed evaluations and assessments to determine the most appropriate level of care.
