Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Each class is limited to 30 participants.
This 25-minute film, commissioned by NCCDD, shows the real-life situations of people with intellectual or other developmental disabilities (I/DD) and what it looks like when their needs are not met.
In this training, you will learn tools to manage a crisis or conflict as well as de-escalation skills. We will also share community resources and the session will end with role play and feedback.
