Understanding Addiction and Developmental Disabilities
January 31, 2024 @ 9:00 am - 12:15 pm
Virtual Event
Join Alliance for “Understanding Addiction and Developmental Disabilities” on January 31 from 9 – 12:15 pm. According to SAMHSA, people with cognitive and physical disabilities have higher rates of substance use disorders yet have lower rates of treatment than people without disabilities. This is compounded by the fact that many clinicians don’t feel they have the knowledge, training, and skills to provide effective treatment services to this population. With the assistance of grant funding provided by the NC DMH/DD/SUS, Monarch developed an evidence-informed curriculum to assist clinicians in providing addiction treatment to people with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD). This interactive, online training will provide education about working with those with IDD and their families and provide an overview of the curriculum.
This training will be held virtually. For more information or to register, click here.
