Providers are invited to the SR-AHEC Training: Implicit Bias in Mental Health training on March 28 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

Implicit bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions unconsciously. These biases, that we may not be aware of, can influence our interactions with our clients; and how we diagnose, screen, respond to crises, and treat them. Cultural competence assists in increasing awareness of our biases and how they impact our decision-making with diverse clients. Cultural humility is an essential aspect of cultural competence. A life-long process of self-reflection and self-critique is key to providing ethical services and quality care.
