Effective July 1, 2026, NC-TOPPS will implement updates that include modifications to existing questions as well as the addition of new questions and services within the NC-TOPPS interviews.
If you are using printed copies of the interviews or manual, please ensure you reference the most current version when conducting interviews on or after July 1, 2026. These updates will be automatically reflected in the NC-TOPPS system on or around that date.
The SFY26-27 NC-TOPPS changes are:
- Consumer gender assigned at birth wording change:
- Child abuse drug screen question changed to be more specific:
- Was the investigation due to an infant having a positive urine, meconium or cord segment drug screen?
- Substance use questions:
- Added xylazine to the list of drugs
- Special needs and service value questions wording change:
- Update/EC question for number of drug tests conducted clarified to:
- Do not count if it is positive for medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) only
Adult interview changes:
- New residential services/added/changed:
- Clinically Managed Low Intensity Residential Servcies-H2034 (added)
- Clinically Managed Population Specific High-Intensity Residential Program-H0047 (added)
