NC START – Care Management Training Course

Alliance Health is pleased to offer a free, 6‑week virtual training course for Care Coordinators and Care Managers, delivered in partnership with the National Center for START Services (NC START). This program is designed to build practical skills and enhance the ability of care management staff to support children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Mental Health (MH) needs.

Training Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify how common mental health conditions may present in individuals with IDD.
  • Describe strategies to improve systematic engagement and increase effective linkages.
  • List methods for incorporating the perspectives of individuals receiving services—and their families—into service planning and advocacy.
  • Explain the distinctions between leadership and advocacy.
  • Apply new skills and approaches within their daily work to strengthen supports and services for individuals with IDD, TBI, IDD/MH, and their families.

Training Schedule

  • Dates: September 28 – November 2, 2026
  • Day/Time: Mondays, 2:00 PM – 3:45 PM EST
  • Format: Virtual

Eligibility

Participants must:

  • Be actively employed by a contracted Alliance Health provider agency.
  • Hold a role as a Care Coordinator, Care Manager, or Case Manager who works with Alliance Health members with IDD, TBI, or dual IDD/MH diagnoses.

*Incomplete registrations will not be processed.

Important Registration Notes

  • Registration Deadline: Friday, September 11, 2026 (end of day)
  • Registration is first come, first served for fully completed submissions
  • Staff who complete the full training and all program requirements—including receipt of a certificate or letter of completion—will be eligible for a $185 incentive.
  • Incomplete or unverifiable information may result in denial of participation or forfeiture of the incentive
  • Participants must complete all required surveys (pre-training, session, and post-training surveys) to receive a certificate of completion
  • EORs and their staff may participate in the training, however, Alliance will not be able to offer incentive payments.
