Alliance Supports Inclusive Housing in Orange County

Alliance Health joined HOPE NC, the Town of Chapel Hill, Orange County, Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, and other community partners to celebrate the ribbon cutting of the first of ten new duplexes in the mixed-income Weavers Grove community in Chapel Hill that will provide inclusive housing opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in a broader neighborhood.

Led by Hope NC, the initiative represents an important step toward creating more inclusive communities where individuals with disabilities have opportunities to live independently, build relationships and experience a greater sense of belonging.

Alliance Health provided $100,000 in funding to support HOPE NC’s efforts, reinforcing our commitment to expanding access to safe, stable and inclusive housing for individuals with I/DD.

“Everyone deserves the opportunity to have a place to call home and be part of a community where they feel valued and included,” said Ann Oshel, Alliance Health Senior Vice President of Community Innovation and Impact. “HOPE NC has demonstrated tremendous leadership in bringing this vision to life, and we are proud to provide resources that help make projects like this possible. These homes represent more than housing. They represent opportunities for independence, connection and belonging.”

The Weavers Grove initiative reflects the vision of creating housing opportunities that foster independence and meaningful community connections for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It marks an important milestone for the Orange County community and shows how collaborative investments can create lasting opportunities.
