Alliance Health SVP, Community Innovation and Impact Ann Oshel was among a select group of health care professionals from across the country chosen to consult on the recently published Where Health Meets Place: A Guide to Community-Driven Health Plan and Community Development Collaboration, a website developed in partnership between Build Healthy Places Network (BHPN) and the Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP). This innovative resource provides a roadmap for health plans and community developers to stop “doing for” and start “investing with” communities – aligning their resources, capital, and expertise behind the solutions that residents hold agency over, moving from disconnected efforts toward sustained, community-led investment in the conditions that shape health.
The new website highlights King’s Ridge, Wake County’s first supportive housing development – a 100-unit community in Raleigh designed for individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, including people living with disabilities and complex behavioral health needs. The $26 million development was built through a partnership between Alliance and CASA, an experienced affordable housing developer. Alliance invested $1 million as a major financial contributor, and seven units are reserved specifically for Alliance members.
