Alliance Joins Groundbreaking for New Orange County Crisis Care Center

On Thursday, October 22, Alliance Health joined Orange County leadership and stakeholders at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Jamezetta Bedford Crisis Care Center on Waterstone Drive in Hillsborough, NC, near the UNC Hospitals Hillsborough campus. The new Crisis Care Center will address a critical gap in Orange County’s behavioral health crisis continuum and is named in honor of Commissioner Jamezetta Bedford, who passed away unexpectedly in June of 2026 and had served as a champion for behavioral health services.

With a target opening date of Spring 2028, the crisis center will aim to divert individuals from emergency departments and detention centers and will include behavioral health urgent care, a facility-based crisis center, and a peer living room. Over the past several years, Alliance has served on the Crisis Diversion Facility Subcommittee to support bringing Orange County’s vision to fruition. The new center will join Alliance’s robust continuum of community-based crisis response resources spread across the seven North Carolina counties served by Alliance.
