Alliance Health has launched a mobile application designed to assist law enforcement officers and other first responders in their critical interactions with citizens experiencing behavioral health crises. The Alliance Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) app offers immediate access to essential resources available in our catchment area.
Alliance has trained thousands of first responders across its service area, including more than 400 in 2024, using a 40-hour CIT curriculum that helps officers recognize crisis signs, respond calmly and connect individuals with treatment. We also offer a specialized 16-hour Veterans CIT program that addresses the unique needs of military veterans in crisis.
The app was developed in response to the increasing demand for effective tools to manage behavioral health emergencies. With data indicating that one in five adults experience mental illness each year, first responders are often on the front lines of these encounters, making timely and informed responses essential.
The app is highly user-friendly and designed to facilitate quick access to information with just a few taps, allowing first responders to focus on the situation at hand without unnecessary delays. It streamlines access to a comprehensive array of resources, including contact information for local mental health services, emergency hotlines, crisis and assessment centers, and youth and veteran resources. The app also offers a pill identifier through Drugs.com, a calendar of upcoming events and trainings, and access to a three-month follow-up survey for first responders who have completed the Alliance CIT training.
“We are excited to launch the Alliance CIT app as a vital resource for those who bravely serve our communities,” said Rob Robinson, CEO at Alliance Health. “Our goal is to enhance the ability of first responders to effectively support individuals in crisis and foster a more understanding and informed response to behavioral health challenges.”
