Change to Online Claims Submission Portal

An upcoming change to our online claims submission portal may affect provider workflow.

What’s changing
The “copy claim” feature currently available within the CMS-1500 and UB-04 claim entry screens will be significantly reduced beginning Friday May 7.

What this means for you

  • With the upcoming release, the copy claim button will only copy member demographic and insurance information into the new claim (1-12 on the CMS-1500 form and numbers 3, 8-11 and 38, as well as the primary payer section on the UB-04 form).
  • All encounter specific information must be entered manually.
  • We strongly encourage thorough review of all claim data prior to submission to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Why this change is being made
Over time, we identified a growing number of claim submission issues linked to the reuse of previously submitted claims. While the copy feature was designed to improve efficiency, it has also contributed to unintentional data inaccuracies when previously entered information is not fully reviewed or updated before resubmission.

These data inconsistencies can lead to:

  • Claim processing delays.
  • Increased rework and corrections
  • Potential impacts on payment timelines

We understand the value this feature has provided in efficiency, and we are exploring options to reintroduce similar functionality in the future with enhanced safeguards to help prevent data integrity issues.
