State-funded Recipients

When people who are not insured by Medicaid, but instead receive state-funded services as part of the Alliance Health Tailored Plan, they are called “recipients” of the plan.

On October 1, 2023, Alliance Health will begin operating a Behavioral Health and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities Tailored Plan. When people are not insured by Medicaid but instead receive state-funded services as part of the Alliance Health Tailored Plan, they are called “recipients.” Limited state-funded services are for individuals who do not have insurance or are under-insured.

What is a Tailored Plan?

Tailored Plans manage many kinds of care a person needs to be healthy. They are designed for:

  • People with significant behavioral health (mental health and substance use disorders) needs
  • People with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DDs)
  • People who are part of the Innovations and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waivers
  • Non-Medicaid behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities and TBI services for uninsured and underinsured North Carolinians
What is a Tailored Plan?

What kinds of care are available with the
Alliance Health Tailored Plan?

  • Behavioral health services including outpatient therapy, medication management, intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment, and an array of community and in-home treatment services
  • Support and residential services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Behavioral health crisis services with several being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Community resources including housing, employment training and other supports that promote recovery)

Who provides these services?

The services and supports available through the Alliance Tailored Plan are offered by a large and diverse network of physical and behavioral healthcare providers in communities across the counties we serve. Each one has earned a reputation for successfully serving people with Medicaid or who are uninsured.

Alliance works to be sure recipients have access to many kinds of effective and innovative care.
