Realignment plans on track in Mecklenburg, Orange counties

Planning is well underway to provide a seamless transition in the realignment of Mecklenburg and Orange counties with Alliance Health. The two counties’ requests to disengage from Cardinal Health Innovations and realign with Alliance Health were approved by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services in August with an effective date of December 15, 2021.

In preparation for these county realignments and the operation of a Behavioral Health I/DD Tailored Plan in July 2022, Alliance is actively hiring 450 new staff members and establishing office space for a local presence in each county. The office in Mecklenburg County will be in the Community Resource Center at the Valerie C. Woodard Center. The Orange County office space location is expected to be determined soon.

We are also meeting with local stakeholders and community partners in each county to build a robust system of care, and engaging with Cardinal and NCDHHS to gather needed member and provider data.

In order to ensure a smooth transition and prevent disruptions in services for members and providers, Alliance is opening its Provider Network to providers currently serving residents of Mecklenburg and Orange counties who are in good standing with Cardinal and Alliance and who meet all the applicable state-imposed rules and requirements.

Alliance Provider Network staff have been working with providers contracted with Cardinal to help them navigate the requirements to transition, including holding provider “meet and greet” sessions and technical assistance sessions in September. Access more information on provider onboarding.
