July 14, 2022 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
Trauma is an exposure to an event that may be violent, threaten death, or many other extremely high-level stressors that can be acute or pervasive. This training will present information about the basics of trauma and its’ definition and how it affects the architecture of the brain. Information on how we are looking at trauma differently for children and the ACEs study will be presented. We will discuss secondary trauma and caregiver stress and how we can influence our friends and family to utilize strategies to employ self-care. Historical trauma will be covered, as well as how different levels and types of traumatic exposures and events affect individuals and our communities. Resilience strategies and treatment options for those we support will be addressed.
